Results NSW State Titles 2016

Congratulations to Frank O’Rourke 2016 State Champion at Great Lakes Sailing Club Forster NSW.
REPORT
The 2015-2016 NSW State Titles were held in conjunction with the Booti Booti Cup at
Wallis Lake near Forster on the weekend 13/14 February.
A fleet of 10 turned up which was slightly disappointing but still a good fleet. Four races
were held over the two days.
Saturday was about 10-15 knots, good trapezing weather. Sunday was a bit lighter with
mostly sitting on the side.
Frank O’Rourke continues his good form from the Nationals with 4 wins.
Rohan Nosworthy improved from the nationals and was pressing closely all weekend and
scored 3 seconds and one third. A new set of black sails looked fast and his speed was
equal to Frank’s but a lack of a good rudder pop up system cost him time.
Yes, weed was a factor.
Gary Powell sailed well as always and scored one second and three thirds. Tony Rose
continues to improve and two of his fourths were by only one second behind third.
Tony Kuhn improved over the weekend and probably suffered from lack of sailing. Arie
also needs more sailing but at times showed really good speed. Scott Witchard, Nick
Powell and Graeme Smith all sailed well and completed all races. New to Arrows was
NS14 guru Peter Vaiciurgis who showed great speed early but lacked catamaran
experience and has some problems. Nevertheless, it was great to see him on the water.
