Queensland State Championships 2013<\/h3>\n

Robbie Lea reclaimed his State Championship in a hard fought regatta held in conjunction with Sail Mooloolaba 13. The weather did not look good coming into the weekend with a trough and low pressure system developing off the coast. Although it was cold and wet the first 4 heats were sailed in 10-15 knots with a 2m sea (Some really awesome waves to be had on trapeze to windward). Unfortunately the low finally took over and the strong winds meant the series was reduced from 8 heats to 4. Daryl Skinner claimed the first heat in a close contest from Adrian and Robbie. Heats 2 and 3 were won by Robbie but only by a few seconds from Adrian, only in heat 4 did Robbie manage a comfortable win. Tim Dau travelled all the way from Townsville to pick up 4th although he and yours truely did have some good moments but then some brain fades particularly in knowing when to go though the finish line. Good to see Guy Aldridge out on Another Bundy and Callum Reid back temporarily from Nacra duty. Special mention to “Davo” who is doing his best to keep some really good sailors in front of him honest but more importantly as our president has organised us to attend a lot of regattas this year with great exposure for the class.
