Results SA Arafura Cadet State Championships 21-22 SA

Thanks to the tireless work of President Steve Rogers, the Arafura Cadets made a welcome comeback to State fleet sailing, holding a Championship event over the weekend of 22-23 January 2022.

Five boats sailed in glorious sunny conditions at Victor Harbor on the Saturday, and four in windier conditions at Normanville on Sunday. Those sailing were Charlie Coombs, Jody Martin, Zane Porteous, Trinity Woodley and Grace Rogers.

The more experienced skippers, Charlie and Jody had the more powerful wide head mainsail and consequently had superior boat speed but Zane did very well on corrected time, scoring a 1^st and 2^nd. The younger girls had their own competition, with Trinity beating Grace in two of the three races at Victor Harbor. Light-weight Grace decided not to sail in the gusty conditions at Normanville on Sunday.

Charlie, who won the last National AC Championship at Mooloolaba, Queensland in 2016, is looking forward to defending his title at Meningie, South Australia at the end of the year.
